installation guidelines are matched to the climate and dust concentration for the turbine project region. Fog, rain or moisture from high humidity has proven to cause undetected filter failure in many installations. The resulting fouling of the gas turbine reduces megawatt output and increases off speed and/or outages for cleaning. The result is the replacement of a filter long before it should have been required.

PULSE CLEANING SYSTEMS
While the idea behind a self-cleaning filter system has tremendous appeal, the effective performance scope of this design is limited. The pulse cartridge is designed for “dust collection” systems, which handle high concentrations of large particle dust. Thus, this system can be very effective in desert areas where dry, wind-blown sand and debris can occur regularly. This filter system cannot operate effectively in |

areas of high humidity or moisture as the condensation of liquid impedes the ability to self-clean.
Areas where a more normal “atmospheric” dust are the contaminant, there is not enough volume of dirt to pulse freely from the cartridge. As a result, an unnecessarily high pressure drop of typically 2.0 to 3.0 inches water gage is normal.
